Historical Context: In the 1990s, sustained campaigning drew attention to child labor, sweatshop conditions and other human rights and labor violations in the production of apparel.
Year Launched: 1999
Method of Operation: FLA requires companies to monitor their supply chains for compliance with FLA’s labor standards, and implement policies to prevent and detect labor violations.
Monitored Entities: Factories
Examples of Relevant Rights-holders: Workers in the apparel, agricultural and technology industry supply chains, particularly seasonal or migrant workers.
